🌿 Relentless Scavenger & 100% Plant-Safe Maintenance

The Gold Mystery Snail is an outstanding, peaceful scavenger that works around the clock to maintain a clean tank ecosystem. It excels at consuming uneaten fish food, decaying plant matter, fish waste, and soft organic biofilms from the substrate and glass before they can foul your water quality.

A critical benefit of Pomacea bridgesii is that it will absolutely never eat or damage healthy, live aquarium plants. Its specialized mouthparts are only capable of consuming soft, dead tissue and detritus, making it perfectly safe for high-end aquascapes, delicate mosses, and soft stem flora. They breed in freshwater but lay their eggs in a highly visible, large pink cocoon above the waterline, making population control incredibly simple and stress-free for your customers.

🛠️ Lighting, Temperature & Maintenance Guide

  • Lighting Requirements: Highly Adaptable. They do not require specific lighting for their health. However, their brilliant golden coloration stands out beautifully under full-spectrum LED fixtures, especially when contrasted against deep green plants or dark substrates.

  • Temperature Parameters: Prefers a stable tropical range of 20°C – 28°C (68°F – 82°F). Higher temperatures within this range increase their activity and growth rate, but slightly shorten their overall lifespan.

  • Water Chemistry & Shell Thickness: Requires a pH range of 7.0 – 8.0 and medium-to-hard water (gH above 8, kH above 4). Providing hard, alkaline water is critical to supply the essential calcium required for healthy shell growth, keeping their golden armor thick, smooth, and free of pitting or erosion.

  • Aquarium Escape Caution: Mystery Snails are notorious for climbing out of the water to lay eggs or explore. It is highly recommended to keep a tight-fitting lid on the aquarium and leave a 2-inch gap of air between the water surface and the top frame to prevent any accidental falls.
