The Orange Poso Rabbit Snail is a peaceful, fascinating scavenger that spends its day deliberately exploring the aquarium floor. It is highly valued for its natural habit of shifting and lightly burrowing through the substrate. This behavior actively aerates the soil, preventing the buildup of dangerous anaerobic gas pockets while cleaning up leftover fish food, decaying organic detritus, and plant debris before they can foul your water quality.
Unlike standard aquatic snails that multiply aggressively, Tylomelania species possess a unique viviparous reproductive biology. They give birth very slowly to just one single, perfectly formed juvenile snail at a time, encased in a tiny nutrient pouch. This incredibly low birth rate ensures they will absolutely never overpopulate or turn into a pest outbreak in your customer's tank. They are exceptionally peaceful community inhabitants and are perfectly safe with sturdy live flora, though their large size means they should be kept well-fed with supplemental foods to protect very delicate, soft broadleaf plants.

Lighting Requirements: Highly Adaptable. They do not require specific lighting for their health. However, full-spectrum LED fixtures make their vivid mandarin-orange flesh pop with incredible brilliance, creating a spectacular visual centerpiece against dark active substrates or light-colored sand.
Temperature Parameters: Requires Warm Water. Because they originate from tropical Sulawesi lakes, they demand a warmer temperature range of 24°C – 29°C (75°F – 84°F). Keeping them in cooler water will cause them to become completely sluggish, inactive, and drop in health.
Water Chemistry & Shell Thickness: Prefers a pH range of 7.6 – 8.5 and moderate-to-hard water parameters (gH above 8, kH above 5). Alkaline water rich in dissolved minerals is critical to supply the essential calcium needed to prevent their long, pointed shells from eroding or pitting at the tips.
Substrate Preference: Smooth sand or very fine, rounded gravel is highly recommended. Their soft, wrinkled bodies glide much easier over fine substrates, and it allows them to express their natural burrowing behaviors without damaging their foot or shell.
